Instagram has finally started rolling out its new feature called “Shopping Tags,” which allows advertisers to import their products directly into paid and organic Instagram posts.
Similar to tagging other users in images, tapping on an image with Shopping Tags brings users to linked product pages. By tapping on the “Shop Now” button, they can view the relevant product page and purchase the product. All of this is done without ever leaving the Instagram app.
Eligible businesses can upload a product catalog via Facebook Business Manager, and once that catalog is connected to the corresponding Instagram account, it’s as simple as choosing relevant products and images then placing them appropriately.
No more dealing with links in bios or third-party apps; you’ll be able to sell your products directly on Instagram with a lot less hassle, and consumers will be able to buy these products with just a few simple taps.
Eventually, Instagram will also be exploring product recommendations, a global expansion of these tags and the ability for consumers to save products so that they can revisit and purchase at a later date.
While this is a slow rollout, U.S. retailers and businesses selling apparel, jewelry or beauty products are eligible to join the waitlist. You can find out more about the requirements by visiting this link.
These new features will allow ecommerce retailers to grow conversion rates, sales and new customers through Instagram, further monetizing business efforts on the platform.
