55% of Search Marketers Plan to Increase SEO Spending this Year

55% of UK search marketers plan to increase their SEO spending this year. 49% plan to include Twitter in their marketing efforts–up from 3% last year–and 65% are including Facebook. 48% are seeing an increase in ROI from their SEO campaigns (compared to 6% that have seen a decline) and for paid search, 43% have seen an increase (versus 15% that have seen a decline).

Googlers have presented a new study on Sitemaps at the WWW’09 conference in Madrid. The purpose of the study was to measure the past few years of Sitemaps usage at Google to determine how Sitemap files improve coverage and freshness of the Google web index.

Yahoo Now Showing Two Indented Results

In the past, “Yahoo has only shown a single indented result under the main result. I am not sure if this is some type of bug or if Yahoo has decided to show more results from the same domain in certain cases.”

Click Fraud Index

The Click Fraud Index monitors and reports on data gathered from the Click Fraud Network. The overall industry average click fraud rate was 13.8% for Q1 2009. That’s down from 17.1% reported for Q4 2008. “It appears that the drop in keyword Cost Per Clicks (CPCs) and the progress Yahoo! and Google made blocking click fraud from botnet sources contributed to the decline in the overall click fraud rate this quarter.”
