As screen widths proliferate it is important to design websites that can adapt. Too often in the past web design was approached with a “print” mentality using fixed widths. More and more laptops, and soon desktops, are being sold with wide screens. Widths in excess of 800 pixels and up to 1280 pixels will become common.
Here’s a great article that explains the issue and proposes a solution. Very useful.
